Introduction to SAMBHA
SAMBHA was created as a solution to the problem of providing highly-available Windows shares and services on Linux in a virtualized environment.
Overview
SAMBHA provides SAMBA services including SMB volume shares, Printing, Directory Services (including LDAP), in an Active/Passive HA configuration.
LinuxHA provides the HA stack for the project, and Heartbeat is used to drive the HA resources. Among these are management of the DRBD volume for SAMBA, a VIP to serve the filesystem and the smbd daemon.
DRBD provides a distributed filesystem for SAMBA, and takes advantage of LVM to provide flexible volumes.
Fencing is not a component of this implementation.
